FOUNDED IN 2000

Step N Grooves Dance School, based in Islip, Northamptonshire was founded by Mrs Steph Newman back in September 2000.  The school prides itself on being completely original.

Step N Grooves offers its pupils the chance to learn (N.A.T.D) Freestyle Disco and Street dance, participate in our many performances and exams but most importantly of all, to become part of the Step N Grooves family.

We currently run classes for ages 4 years to adult in Islip – Northamptonshire.

WHY WE ARE DIFFERENT

We are quite different to conventional dance school set ups; we have a unique ethos amid the modern dance world.

Steph, founder of Step N Grooves (Fellowship teacher & NATD examiner) grew up in competitive dance and always felt that it wasn’t quite the right avenue for her. She resolved to build a school with an alternative focus – with zero pressure. Step N Grooves provides a quality, solid dance foundation focusing on confidence, musical connection and rhythm, whilst just having fun. We choreograph challenging routines for our dancers, never underestimating them. This has proven central to its success – our dancers really thrive.

Within a Step N Grooves lesson, routines and skills practise are often complimented by our dance games and conditioning (or torture as our older pupils call it!) exercises. This style of teaching indirectly allows the dancers to grow, practise and improve on certain techniques, but more importantly gives them a chance to have a giggle (and a collective moan!)

We encourage pupils to enter for N.A.T.D Freestyle Syllabus, Street Syllabus & Graded Freestyle & Street Syllabus exams – but these aren’t compulsory at all! We work towards an annual show weekend in December where we come together as a team, celebrating how children and adults, all ages, all abilities can join with a shared love and talent to have a great time and perform with style, energy and heaps of passion.
